A WELL-MANNERED FRIVOLITY: Juniors and Seniors’ Promenade

Part 1 CANDLELIGHT AND TURNOVER CEREMONY

It starts with the grand entrance of the Ladies and Gentlemen.

The ladies stay backstage. The gentlemen line up on the upper box, go down the staircase near the stage, and go up the stage to get their lady pair. Together (holding hands), they will proceed to the lady’s seat. The gentleman leaves her there, and goes to his seat. Facing the stage, the junior gentlemen are seated on the left side of the long left table, the senior ladies on the right (away from obstruction and disturbance of persons passing). In the long right table, the senior gentlemen sit on the right side and the junior ladies on the left.

The Presidential Table is located at the back. Together, these tables form the shape U.

Then the MC will announce the entrance of the Ms. Junior paired by the Mr. Junior. They will be followed by the Ms. Senior and the Mr. Senior. The last to walk will be the Ms. Alma Mater wearing a toga. She will be paired by a male teacher so as not to walk alone in the aisle. These personages all wear sashes to be distinguished.

The MC will request everyone to stand for the invocation and national anthem.

The MSG governor will then give his welcome address.

This will be followed by a serenade onstage coming from the juniors, and then the seniors’.

The class history will then be given by a selected senior student.

The Ms. Alma Mater, her toga taken off her, will light the torch.

Announcement of the turning over of responsibilities will follow. First, the Mr. Senior will ceremoniously turn over to the Mr. Junior the Key of Responsibility. They will exchange pledges while holding the key (A real, big, wooden key). The turning over of the Book of Knowledge (a big book, an atlas perhaps) by the Ms. Senior to the Ms. Junior will follow.

Exchanging of Candles and Tokens by the Juniors and Seniors will follow on stage. As the case may demand, when there is inequality in the number of Juniors and Seniors, some juniors or seniors will pair the ladies or gentlemen without partners. Also, Tokens or Candles may be reused to facilitate the ceremony.

DINNER follows for everyone is starving. However, they cannot eat loads since they’re wearing something tight, and are afraid of the bulge.

Class will and testament on the bequeathal of talents will come next. This will be given by a selected senior addressed to the juniors. As names are called with talents, the student will stand.

Class prophecy will follow.

Positioned on stage, the farewell song of the seniors comes after. The juniors look on them while standing in front of them in line listening to their song. After the seniors’ farewell song, the juniors will render the seniors with a finale song as response.

PART 2  JUNIORS AND SENIORS’ PROMENADE: SELECTION OF PROM KING AND QUEEN

MCs will be changed. A teacher replaces them.

This part starts with the Rigodon de Honor by the selected seniors.

After that, the MC will call the chairman of the Prom King and Queen Selection committee to hand in the envelope containing the result of the selection, Second runners up, first runners up, and the Prom King and Queen. They will be lined up at the back for their grand entrance in pairs. Coronation follows, giving of sceptre, donning of sash, and giving of bouquets. They will then be honoured through recognition on stage and a photo op. They will proceed with the Royal Promenade (march), Royal Walts, and back to their places. The Ceremonial Waltz follows this offered by the Juniors to everyone. Acknowledgement follows.

PART 3 BALLROOM AND DISCO DANCING
