December 21, 2012: Today, the dreaded “Doomsday”
came without much pomp and exuberance. Some have foretold it would be postponed
due to bad weather. I believe they are indeed correct. Sluggishly, I woke up
and noticed the faint cool December wind stirring the still morning. Darkness
pressed on itself rather stubbornly as clouds obscured the sun’s rising. It was
very quiet. I opened my phone and noticed some messages. Most of it was about
greetings of the end of the world that did not come. There was only one that tried
to be funny. I found his joke so bland that I slept back after pissing. Still,
I smiled thinking that the movie 2012 was a comedy after all. Today’s top of
the morning is so monotonous.
Anyway, our Christmas Party starts at 3:00 PM
today. I’ve already have prepared for this afternoon. My gifts are packed.
Clothes for the event have been pressed. And I have set my mind to enjoy
tonight and party like it’s the end of the world. I just hope the people of room 202
share the same readiness.
However, I am concerned with the flow of the
general program. We were not made thoroughly familiar with its flow. Also, if
the activities are to be held in the courtyard, chances are, we will all be
swallowed by darkness when the evening comes. I am not sure if they have also
foreseen the possibility of rain for we were not told to set up tents. We
better keep our “lechon” inside for that matter.
Yes! Our menu today includes, “lechon” pig,
humba, steak, lumpia, spaghetti, salads, mango float and many more. Many more
means many more, not the one where you’ll use it because you cannot mention any
other more.
And oh, by the way, I have explicitly told my
students to wear casual attire—something worthy of a world’s end. Tsk, see you
then…
