DISCOVERING AGUINID FALLS BEFORE IT WAS TOO MAINSTREAM

SATURDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2011. I was alone in our house today. Well, WOLFY, our dog was napping outside, but the kids were in school and my aunt is in the city. I am left with almost nothing to do, so I decided to go out.

Er, to be honest, it's not exactly out of impulse that I decided to have this trip. Two of my friends pestered me through text that it would be nice to. I told them that I'll come to their school (where I am on leave for a year.) They have a half-day class this day.

I drove my cab, brought a digicam with me and went first to our Barangay Elementary School to take pictures of the newly constructed school building sponsored by presidential sister Pinky Aquino-Abellada's Foundation and Dakay Construction. I did this because I am the chairman of the Committee on Education of our barangay council. Kagawad tayo!

Then I went to SMA. After meeting my colleagues and talking with the Sister Directress who told me to come back the next month instead of June next year, I felt really disturbed and anxious that the need to have a break increased in an instant. (You have no idea of the burdens I have right now, especially the reason for my leave of absence.)

It's 12:15 noon; the classes were dismissed. KEBOI, ANTHON and I ate our lunch, talked about school, their performance tasks, new teachers, and unanimously decided to take the road... By the way, I said no to the Directress' offer to come back... It's %$#@%& complicated!!!

We went to each of our houses to change and get some stuff. It's almost 1:30 in the afternoon when we finally hit the road to pursue that flighty temptress called adventure.

The cab has one passenger seat and a canopied back. But nobody would want to stay alone in the back, so we all cramped ourselves in front. At first, we thought of contacting others to make the journey more fun, but time is running out especially with  the torrents of rain falling so hard.

The journey itself rocks--literally and figuratively... The three of us were talkers that there is no dull moment during the ride.... Also, the boombox exploded party, reggae, pop rock and feel good music lifting our spirits up.... Unfortunately, we turned it off somewhere in Looc, Oslob. The street decorations created a traffic jam and the music too jammed...

We reached the destination at about 2:45. The rain has stopped but we feared that the water of the falls had already turned to chocolate because of the flood. We parked our vehicle; left our things we wanted not to get wet; and walked toward the forest...

I walked ahead, Keboi and  Anthon kept on taking pictures along the way (PARA DAW SA MGA WA KAKUYOG)...

Our 8-minute walk became 10 because they were documenting the way... Plus, the rain made the path slippery...

Behind this mound with a bamboo thicket is the river leading to the falls...

This is what we call monkeying around...

A bamboo pole barring the path became an object of fun and photography for my two companions... I'm already in the river signalling them to hurry...

These concrete blocks are the only man - made structure in this place... All the rest are natural...

The First Level... Luckily the water is not that murky and chocolatey... THIS PICTURE IS FOR THE ONES WHO WERE NOT HERE WITH US!!! LOL

Only the three of us (apart from the "not like ours") were present in this visit...

The camera displayed 2 bars of battery life...:[

AGAIN, EVERYTHING YOU SEE HERE IS NATURAL...

Enjoying the spill of water... We're still in the first level of the falls because we thought it's already the best part of this forest...but later, we were proven wrong...

We walked a little farther...

and went spelunking in this cave...

This is the Second falls... The water here is falling from a 20 - meter wall... BECAUSE OF MY EXCITEMENT, I WENT AHEAD, CLIMBED UP AND FELL... FIRST BLOOD!!! The rocks cut my knee caps and elbows (mura kog nangamang...hahaha) That's Human Falls...

What do you think happened next?
a. I died (which is ridiculous).
b. I lost consciousness and Anthon went to look for help.
c. I floated downriver and was feasted by crocodiles and piranhas.
d. I climbed up and told Keboi to do the same when we go down.

The answer is obvious...

Can you see my slipper??? If you can, then try to picture the scene from that height to the water below... That's how I fell... WEW! THANK GOD! THANKS MY GUARDIAN ANGEL!

Keboi told me that crevices or foot holes were cut within the wall to aid climbing. I have neglected this... Damnable! (Oops... sorry...)

On top of the second level... The feel of blood rushing through the veins is exhilarating!!!

We continued the climb...

Wading in cool freshwater...

Terrace - like formations...

And behold, the Third Level....

The scene is like... in a dream... (atik keu!!! LOL)
Anyway, look at my left elbow...

Instead of breaking the the rocks, the waters continuously add minerals to it making it grow in a mound - like formation... Others form stalactites and stalagmites...

This is behind the third falls, the Fourth Level... We're now nearing the final level... THIS IS A GREAT REAL GAME!!! (notice the natural rock formations)

The trek was done under the canopy of ancient trees, vines, hanging balete roots, wild flowers, spider webs, and of course, misty rainbows... The only litter we saw here was these rotten leaves, twigs and palm fruits... Its ecosystem is still awesome....

LOOK!!! I can see it behind those trees...

ALL THE PAIN WAS FORGOTTEN!!! WELCOME TO THE FINAL LEVEL!!!!

The water here is just waist deep, so, to enjoy it... stand by the falling waters... IT DOESN'T HURT... IT'S JUST LIKE HAVING A MASSAGE...

ANSARAP DITO!!!

"SA MGA WA KAKUYOG, TSK, TAN AW NALANG MO"
- Anthon

That's how it's supposed to be... living young... and wild... and free!!!!

After some time, we decided to go down... Tsk... we have to...

On the way down, we took pictures of the many spider webs scattered in the river.... Its spiders were huge and not commonly seen... This is the first time we saw their kind...

The camera is almost dead... very wet and soggy... and muddy...

Hello my friend we met again!!! The second level... I reminded Keboi that the best way to go down below is to fall...

We ate the TORTILLOS here... Haha... Gikaon nalang aron maka-gunit sa agianan...

The last picture before the camera beeped battery empty... Yahaya ah!

What happened next???
a. The three of us jumped the 20-meter wall.
b. We stayed there and waited for rescue until now.

Yeah, yeah... Hilarious!

Well, we climbed down. It was easy because of the crevices and holes cut on the wall...

It's almost 4:45... We are so hungry...

We went back, they stayed at the back of the cab to dry... The music is now on... and we stopped by Poblacion, Oslob to buy food... We had 6 burgers, 2 for each of us...

While waiting for the burger, Keboi saw RVM sisters walking toward our direction. Anthon said that we brag about our Marian-Ignacian education and greet them, "Praised be Jesus and Mary!" I told them we'll do it together... I went to turn off the blaring rock music... and we waited... a few meters... however... they stopped... hailed a Ceres bus to stop and boarded it... Tssss!!!! EPIC FAIL!!!

We laughed at our sad fate... Hahaha!!! After getting our food, we went to their seawall plaza... IN A BLINK OF AN EYE, the food was gone...

Then we had driving lessons... The plaza is so spacious and nobody is present to prevent us from doing so...

The sun is about to drown in the sea of mountains, so we decided to call it a day and head home...

When I arrived, I bragged to my housemates the cuts and wounds on my knees and elbows... Luckily, my aunt did not give me a head whack! My cousin insisted on treating them... Afterward, I uploaded the pics on Facebook.... THEN THE HEATED ARGUMENTS AND COMMENTS FROM THOSE WHO WERE NOT WITH US RAINED THE ALBUM!!!! LMAO....

Here is the video of the fifth level... with Wiz Khalifa's Living Young and Wild and Free as OST....
